Introducing the Shimano Baitrunner ST RB is the entry level baitrunner option from Shimano. The Baitrunner ST range is an extremely versatile reel option which can be used when targeting pike, carp and salmon. This range of reels offer excellent value for money!
This fixed spool spinning reel features Shimano’s Baitrunner II system that gives the angler a tensioned freespool option that can be engaged with the lever located towards the back of the reel. This is ideal for carp anglers or predator anglers looking to fish rigs on the bottom or dead baits as it gives you a controlled way to allow a fish to take your bait and take line without taking your rod and reel with it. The Baitrunner option is automatically disengaged when you take a turn of line back onto the reel allowing you to play the fish on the main drag.
This range of reels boast an excellent Varispeed line lay system that ensures every time you retrieve your mainlines are evenly laid on the spool making it easier for the angler to achieve longer, more accurate casts. This is achieved thanks to the unique internal gearing system. With an AR-C spool that features an angled spool lip design that enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in tighter coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. This design also helps to prevent backlash and wind knots when using braid which helps to prevent any weak points occurring in your mainlines.
Featuring Shimano’s Superstopper II system which helps prevent any backward movement and free play in the handle delivering a much smoother, more stable retrieve, allowing for more power to be transferred from the handle to the rotor on every turn.
The Baitrunner ST RB also has Shimano’s innovative DynaBalance technology which reduces wobble on the retrieve by counter balancing the rotor which enhances the sensitivity and a smoothness of the reel. This is achieved by using computer balancing which redistributes the rotor weight to eliminate vibrations.
Constructed from Shimano’s XT-7 composite material which is high quality and extremely durable, it is also extremely lightweight helping to reduce the weight of the overall reel. It also features Shimano’s power roller technology which helps reduce line twisting which is a big advantage when using mono and braid helping reduce tangling of your mainlines.
The Shimano ST RB is a great piece of kit for the money with the 6000 size being suitable for light deadbaiting and feeder fishing, whilst the 10000 size is the perfect choice for the deadbaiting predator angler.
